Clark & Collis - Get The Job Done!1.56.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Thu 15th Jul 2010
We are pleased to report that as a direct result of the efforts of your local Liberal Democrat Community Workers Andi Clark and Councillor Chris Collis, the County Council has now agreed to clear all of the weeds and grass from the pedestrian areas within the Hobart Road, Melbourne Road, Darwin Close and Boston Close areas.
As you can see from a previous article on this website regarding this issue both Chris and Andi haven't wasted anytime in getting the areas concerned attended too; in fact they are getting a well earned reputation throughout Heath Hayes and Wimblebury for solving issues and problems quickly. A Senior Highways Officer has written to Chris Collis confirming that all of the pedestrian areas throughout the estate are the responsibility of Staffordshire County Council to maintain, and have arranged for two teams of workers to commence weed clearance and a general tidying up of the entire estate in early August. Following this initial work to return the area back to an acceptable condition, an appropriate herbicide will be used to treat all of the footpaths and paved areas in order to make future maintenance easier to achieve. Community Worker Andi Clark said," I am really pleased that as a result of us making the County Council aware of the totally unacceptable condition of the pedestrian areas concerned, and then pressing them to take action to resolve this potentially dangerous issue; they have now agreed to undertake the necessary work to return the estate's footpaths to an acceptable standard. "Which is fantastic news for all of the people whom live in the area concerned, as both I and my colleague Councillor Collis were very worried that the heavily weeded areas not only made the estate look uncared for, but posed a real danger to residents from tripping especially the elderly, partially sighted or those with mobility problems. It has been an absolute pleasure to have played a part in getting this problem sorted out on behalf of residents, and is exactly why I got involved with Chris Collis and the Liberal Democrats in the first place."
